Jordan is who we call our champion of our Defender® Solar Panel Spikes, but for this month's winning entries, he has also installed a wide range of our products from our Defender® Thistle Gutter, standard Gutter Spikes and our Defender® Seagull Spikes.
Jordan's installation of the Defender® Solar Panel Excluders are precision perfect. Pigeons can do a lot of damage if left to nest under solar panels, so installing the excluders creates a strong barrier so the birds can't return. He silicones the strips around the full perimeter of the solar panel bank while also snipping the prongs to fit undulating or stepped tiles perfectly with no gaps.
JS Services has also fitted the Defender® Gutter Spikes; these are designed to clip onto the outside lip of the gutter, leaving the strip to hover over the base of the gutter, allowing for water flow. They are a great deterrent against pigeons perching and pooping in the gutters. Jordan has also used the
Defender® Thistle Gutter Spikes, which works in a similar way, but is a low-profile alternative which deters all birds.
Another example of his work is an installation of Defender® Seagull Spikes. The strips have been installed along the apex only, as this is the preferred perch where gulls choose to sit. They will then defecate down the front of the building, creating an unhealthy mess on the walls, paths and patios below. Jordan has cleaned the tiles before installation, which we consider to be best practice to ensure a long lasting installation. This allows the silicone to create a strong fix to the tiles and the base of the spikes, and not stick to lichen and debris. He has placed the strips near the edge, with the pins overhanging slightly so the gulls can't get near or find a foothold.
